You’ve purchased the Isometric Island Articulate Storyline 360 template, and we couldn’t be more grateful! As a team of Content Creators, we understand how dynamic a tool like Storyline 360 can be, so we decided to put together a set of instructions and pro-tips to act as a guide as you customize your template.
If you have any questions or need further support, you can always reach out to us. We are more than happy to help!
Introduction
Welcome to your new template! The Isometric Island eLearning template is modeled after a gameboard with a fun new twist.
You can keep the name of the game or remove the Game Title Image and replace it with your own.
Pro Tip: We have locked most of the components on the slides to make editing as simple as possible. If you’d like to make a customization to a locked item, simply check the Timeline and unlock it.
Remember: Most of the slides are duplicated throughout the template, so if you make an edit to one, be sure to add the same edits to the other slides.
Instructions + Objectives
Your instructions and objectives should be completely customized to your needs; however, the gameplay is pretty straightforward:
How to play:
Select your Player Icon
Click SPIN to spin the wheel and move around the board to collect stars
<insert your own instructions for what you’d like the learner to complete while on the Info Slides>
Continue until you’ve collected all five stars and reached the end of the game
To ensure your instructions reflect the learner experience, we recommend coming in and adding your instructions as one of the final steps of the development process.
Choose Your Player
Choosing a Player Icon adds to the fun of this template.
Note: We chose the Swivel entrance animation, but feel free to change it by selecting each of the icons (not the hotspots) and playing with different animations in the Animations tab.
The Gameboard
Here is your gameboard! There are a lot of elements on the slide, so here’s a quick breakdown:
Spin Button - This button is actually not triggered to anything, so you can feel free to customize it. Also, the text is editable so that you can apply your brand’s font.
Spin Button Hotspot - This hotspot is what triggers the Spin the Wheel layer to appear.
Gameboard + Stars - Throughout the game, the Learner’s Player Icon will move across the board and occasionally land on Stars
Star Progress Bar - In the top right corner, there are five stars that the Learner can collect as they land on Star squares. The Learner needs to collect all five starts to win the game.
Remember: If you make edits to one of the gameboards, be sure to replicate those edits on all of the others.
Spin the Wheel
After clicking on the Spin Button Hotspot, the Learner is shown a spinning prize wheel. At the end of the spin, the wheel will stop on the designated number of steps, and the Learner’s Player Icon will move around the board. (You’ll see we had to use quite a few 5’s and 4’s to ensure the Learner would actually collect all five stars.)
After the spinning animation, the Learner will be automatically taken to the gameboard where they can watch their Player Icon move the determined number of steps.
Pro Tip: This slide progresses based on the timeline. You can check out the timeline and the triggers panel to make adjustments.
Game Board | Round #
The Game Board | Round # slides showcase the Player Icon moving around the board. On each slide, the icon will land on a specific color, and on special rounds, the icon will land on a Star.
We recommend making the Star squares unique by adding a challenge, knowledge check, or mini-game.
After the Player Icon animation, the Learner will automatically be taken to the Info Slide.
Info Slides
Info Slides are your time to shine. You can get as creative as you’d like with these blank canvases by adding information and interactions that help keep the Learner engaged and take this template to the next level.
Note: Whatever color the Player Icon landed on on the previous Game Board | Round # slide, the Info slide color will match.
Pro Tip: Since there are literally endless ways to use these slides, we recommend adding layers to keep the design clean while adding depth to the experience.
Simply head to the Triggers panel to update the “Next” button to Show Layer, and then duplicate the base layer as many times as you want. Just don’t forget to change the last layer’s Next button to “Jump to next slide” when you are done.
'Round and 'Round It Goes
And round and round you go! Repeat the steps listed above until you have added content to all of the appropriate slides.
The End Game slide is another opportunity to customize the look and feel of the End Game graphic to match the look and feel of the Game Title Image at the beginning of the template.
We hope you enjoyed using this template. Please feel free to share your requests and feedback by emailing [email protected].
Recommendation: Your course template was designed with the necessary navigation placed directly on the slide. We recommend removing the menu and player options for the best Learner experience.
